Soup soup more soup more soup, and juice and soup...

So we've all been sick as dogs since last Thursday. Well, it started with the eldest last Thursday and really got going around Tuesday. Tuesday afternoon, things were looking up after a doctors' visit for all where lots of drugs were handed out, but we've taken a turn for the worse and even I have lost my lunch several times... The airline pilot is suspiciously immune and I suspect he is off secretly gobbling zinc, quinine, echanacea, and vitamin C cocktails (I would be if I wasnt so f-ing sick!!!!)
Here's a soup recipe anyway since I haven't made anything but soup or consumed anything but soup, juice and tea..

Put a chicken in a large pot. I'm very fond of supermarket rotisserie chickens for soup. Remove the breasts and save for later (their texture gets yick if you boil them with the soup).

Add 4 lg. carrots, several stalks of celery (leaves included), 4 small red onions (skin on- gives color), 3 or 4 garlic cloves, a goodly sized hunk of fresh ginger, 1/2 tomato, 1/4 of a lemon, a shake of mixed dried herbs, about 2 tsp. of salt or 1/2 a bullion cube, and a few shakes of pepper. Oh, and water for the less culinary of you out there.

Boil. Turn down to a simmer. Let simmer over lowest setting overnight (electric cooktop only, dont try with gas). Drain soup in morning, dispose of everything except largest chunks of meat and carrots- return these to soup.

Refridgerate for at least a few hours so the fat congeals on top. Skim fat and dispose. Cook some soup with rice or pastina- depending on what you can tolerate. Egg noodles strike me as deeply, richly indigestible right now...

Valentines day is probably cancelled- especially since the whole place smells like soup and throw-up, not real conducive to romance... Just thinking about chocolate makes me ill...
