I have been playing around with fruit salads based on color (color-coordinating fruit salad is fun and tasty and demented, according to my mother) and got this lovely soup after neglecting a fruit salad in the fridge for 24 hours.
Cube 1/3 of a watermelon
add 1 pint each raspberries, blueberries and blackberries
1 lb of strawberries cut up
about 1 cup of grapes halved.
fresh currants would be nice here too,
Let the whole thing sit for a day in the fridge and you get fruit soup. A rather sophisticated way to kick off a dinner party or something just unusual enough to be interesting, but non-threatening to a toddler. For grown ups, a mint garnish with a swirl of slightly sweetened sour cream would be nice.
