It really isnt that big a deal to forgoe pork while living in the Dar al Islam. Its available, but its violently expensive and tends to suffer from freezer burn by the time you get it home. The cold cuts are ok, but are also way too pricey to be anything other than an occasional treat.
My dear husband used to sneak it in from Italy but since swine flu, its become against the law to import it.
